2022 REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

Teams were selected in early 2022 and hit the courts with enthusiasm. The players trained hard throughout year, participated in a number of local and Sydney-based carnivals, and were excited to be heading to the State Titles in what was to be the first “normal” year after COVID interruptions in 2020 and 2021.

The senior teams (Opens, 17s, 15s) headed off to the 2022 Senior State Titles in June and it was great to see the players back on the court and the supporters at the venue with no restrictions. A great weekend was had by all and it was a pleasure to be part of the team comradery. All senior teams had a very successful State Titles. Our Open’s team took out first place in Division 2 which is a fantastic achievement. The 17s came 6th in Division 2, while the 15s came 20th in Division 1.

The junior teams continued with their last few weeks of training before heading away in July for the 2022 Junior State Titles. On Day 1, our teams took to the courts and played brilliantly through rain and early flood warnings. It was so exciting to see the junior players finally take the court after two years of cancelations. It rained all day and players, coaches and spectators were walking through puddles to get to the courts, but no one cared at all. The players were playing netball! We were feeling fairly confident heading back to the motel after Day 1, but the weather worsened overnight. With major flood warnings throughout Sydney, player evacuations for some associations and many road closures, Netball NSW had no other option but to cancel Day 2 and Day 3 of the competition due to the extreme weather. As disappointed as we all were, we were grateful to be safe and dry, we managed to all arrive home without mishaps, and the players at least got to experience one day of Junior State Titles. But bring on 2023, we're looking forward to the state titles all over again!
