CARNIVAL DETAILS

LOCATION:

Charlestown Netball Courts, Bula Street, Charlestown.

OPEN TO:

  • Under 12 years
  • 12 - 15 years mixed
  • 12 - 15 years girls
  • Open mixed
  • Open women's (A and B)

REGISTRATION:

Registrations are now closed.

TEAM GUIDELINES:

  • Maximum of fourteen players registered per team
  • Maximum of three non-Aboriginal players per team
  • Each team must provide at least one non player umpire
  • Open women’s will be graded at the tournament
  • Players can only play in their registered team
  • Drug and alcohol free event

COMPETITION RULES:

FORMAT:

Each game will have 2 x 12-minute halves, with a 2 minute half-time break and 4 minutes between games. Where possible, teams will play one game on, followed by one game off.  Each round will start on the hour or half-hour  (i.e. 8:30am, 9:00am, 9:30am, 10:00am, 10:30am, etc).  

UNIFORM:

Flexible!!! As long as you all look like a team (i.e. have similar outfits), you can wear what you want.  The choice of attire is at the discretion of the teams. You can wear netball dresses, leggings + shirts, bike shorts + tops, skirts + tops, even team onesies if you really want! All is fine, provided everyone in the team is similarly attired.

However, no offensive slogans on clothing. And please keep bottoms covered! 

Teams are required to bring their own set of bibs.

IMPORTANT!!! TEAM MANAGERS MEETING AT CLUBHOUSE AT 8:45AM 

All team managers are required to attend the Managers Meeting at 8:45am on Saturday. This will cover the necessary housekeeping for the competition, as well as providing vital information for teams at the start of the day. 

AWARDS AND PRIZES

The presentation ceremony will be at 3:00pm on Sunday afternoon.

Winners and Runners-Up

Medals & prizes will be given to the winners and runners-up for each division. After the last game for the division has been played, the competition scores will be finalised and an announcement will be made for the winners and runners-up.  Please send one person from these teams to the clubhouse to collect the team medals .

SPIRIT AWARD

There will be a ‘Spirit Award’ presented to one team from each Division during the presentations on Day 2 of the Tournament. Event organisers will determine the recipient of the award based on observations of all teams throughout the duration of the tournament, giving consideration to:

  • Sportsmanship on and off the court;
  • Comradery amongst teams; and
  • Showing respect to officials, other players, spectators, and the surrounding environment throughout the two days of competition.

WET WEATHER NOTIFICATION

Unless otherwise advised, teams should assume games are on and proceed to the courts for play.

Any decisions to alter, postpone or cancel games on Carnival Day due to adverse weather will be announced via social media, so please keep track of our social media outlets (particularly Facebook, but also Instagram). 

TEAM TENTS

Teams can set up their tents at the southern end of the court precinct, on the grassy area between the upper courts and Dudley Road. No tents in the cemetery area. Teams can start setting up tents from 7:30am onwards.

Please be aware of other teams, other tents, ropes, etc. If it's windy, you may need to peg your tent down, so please keep this in mind. NO SIDES ON TENTS please.

And remember to put all rubbish in bins or take your rubbish with you when you leave. Each team will be given a garbage bag for their rubbish, please use it. Thank you for your cooperation!

COVID CONSIDERATIONS

Please refer to our COVID-19 webpage for our current COVID requirements. 

DO NOT ATTEND if you are unwell or have any flu-like symptoms (please get tested!).   We realise it will be very disappointing not to attend, but we are thinking of the health and safety of everyone.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE

CANTEEN

Our canteen offers a variety of drink and food options, including coffee, tea, soft drinks, water, sports drinks, hot food (pies, hot dogs, sandwiches,  chicken burgers, etc), and other snacks.

BBQ

The BBQ will also be operating, giving a selection of hot foods such as sausage sandwiches, steak sandwiches, and bacon & egg rolls. Yum!

FIRST AID & PHYSIO

The first aid office will be available to all players, with physiotherapists to assist in strapping.  Ice will also be available from the first aid office.

EFTPOS & "swipe payments" will be available at the canteen and BBQ, as well as the front office. The nearest ATMs are located at the nearby Whitebridge shops, or at Charlestown (the fuel stations on the Pacific Highway or Charlestown Shopping Centre).

AND THERE IS COFFEE!!!

For the coffee fans who prefer coffee made with fresh roasted beans, you can rest easy. We are happy to announce that barista coffee - O'Neils Mobile Coffee Group - will be at the carnival, located at the southern end of the clubhouse, near the BBQ station. 

Help yourself to a hot cup of coffee, and pair it with an bacon & egg roll! Yummo!!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When will the draw be available? And how can I see the draw?

At this stage, we plan to have the draw available on Friday 28th October. When the draw is available, we will announce it via social media (Facebook & Instagram). We will also include the link to the draw on this page as well.

PRECINCT MAP

There are 28 courts which will be used on carnival day - 20 courts on the lower level, 6 courts on the upper level, and 2 courts (A & B) near the northern end of the clubhouse.

PARKING - There is street parking on Bula Street, with very limited parking around the clubhouse. There is an overflow parking section to the north of the courts (next to the AFL/football clubs). There is some parking near the cemetery close to the upper courts, but  DO NOT park near the gravesites. (Cars may be towed if parked close to the gravesites). And there is parking along Dudley Road.

Please note that for this carnival, we will be using courts A and B. There will be no parking permitted on courts A & B, nor will cars be permitted to park on the grass areas adjacent to courts A & B. There will also be restricted car parking adjacent to the club house at the southern end (due to coffee van, etc).
